1862 October 29: Draft to Take Place November 10
Not all Wisconsin counties met their quota of new enlistments, so a military draft will take place in November, according to The Prescott Journal of October 29, 1862.
From the State Journal [Madison, Wis.].
The Draft.
It will be seen by the order of Adjutant General GAYLORD [Augustus Gaylord], published to-day, that the draft will take place on November 10th, instead of November 5th, as we stated the other day.
— In this State the draft, for 5,000 nine months men, will begin on the 10th of November. We give the list of counties in which the draft is to be made, with the number to be drafted from each county. It will be seen that the St. Croix Valley is free:
