A letter in Frank D. Harding’s Papers, but not one written by him.  The original letter is in the Frank D. Harding Papers (River Falls Mss AB), University of Wisconsin-River Falls University Archives & Area Research Center.

          Yours of the 18th inst. directing certain measurements of the fort at this place has just been received.

The following is the result distances:

II  Prolongation of interior crest of South face of SE semi Bastion strikes interior crest of south curtain 13″ 4′ from curtain angle, or nearly on a prolongation of exterior crest of east flank of S.W. Bastion.

II II  Prolongation of interior crest of South face of S.W. Bastion strikes interior crest of South curtain 18″ 8″ from curtain angle or nearly on a prolongation of exterior crest of the west flank of S.E. semi Bastion.

II II II  Prolongation of interior crest of west face of S.W. Bastion strikes interior crest of west curtain 13″ 4″ from the curtain angle on on [sic] a Prolongation of exterior crest of South flank of N.W. Bastion.

II II II II  Prolongation of West face of N.W. Bastion strikes interior crest of west curtain one foot from the curtain angle or nearly on a prolongation of interior crest of north flank of S.W. Bastion.

V  Prolongation of interior crest of North face of N.W. Bastion strikes exactly at the curtain angle.

V II  Prolongation of interior crest of north face of N.E. semi Bastion strikes interior crest of North curtain 9″ 9″ from the curtain angle.
