George W. Dresser (1834-1899)

Obituary from the River Falls Journal of December 7, 1899 :

DIED.

DRESSER.—At his home in Minneapolis, Minn., Nov. 29, 1899, of heart failure, George W. Dresser, aged 65 years.

— The deceased was a native of the state of New York, where he was born in 1834.  His parents died while he was a child.  Friends took him with them to Illinois where he remained until the age of 12, when he came to Southern Wisconsin and from there in 1856 to Pierce county.  He lived in this vicinity until 1884 when he moved to Minneapolis where he resided until the time of his death.  He united with the Baptist church at River Falls in 1859.  In 1869 he was married to Miss Lois A. Perkins, who survives him.

Mr. Dresser enlisted in Co. M, 2nd Regiment, Wisconsin Cavalry, serving in the civil war for more than three years.  He was also a member of Butler Post of the G. A. R. at Minneapolis, Minn.

His remains were brought to this place, the funeral being held at the Baptist church Saturday forenoon, Rev. E. D. Bewick conducting the services.  The members of the G. A. R. Post of this city took charge of the burial, the remains being interred in Greenwood cemetery.
