The Civil War and Northwest Wisconsin 
Great information on the 16th. Does any information of the uniforms issued to the 16th exist and where might I find it?
We don’t have any letters from the 16th Wisconsin, so we don’t have anything specifically describing what they wore. The Wisconsin Historical Society does have a lot of collections from men who were in the 16th. Look in ArCat (Archives Catalog: arcat.library.wisc.edu/) and search for “United States. Army. Wisconsin Infantry Regiment, 16th (1861-1865).” For example, doing a quick search I ran across Wis Mss 4S, “Civil War Papers of Co. D of the Wisconsin 31st Infantry,” which includes clothing records of individual soldiers. It’s not the right regiment, but there might be something similar for the 16th. Try an advanced search and put “Civil War” in one box and “clothing” in another.
Also try the Wisconsin Veterans Museum in Madison: http://www.wisvetsmuseum.com/. They have lots of uniforms and may have one from the 16th.
Very proud to have learned today that the brother of my great great grandfather (or my great great grand uncle) James Vincent Walker was a Corporal in Company G of the 16th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry.He fought and died at Pittsburg Landing in morning of April 6th, 1862 so it must have been one of those first dozen or so Confederate assaults. Thank you sincerely for mentioning him here. His brother, my direct ancestor, also served but in which regiment I do not (yet) know…

I just learned yesterday that my great great grandfather Peter L Francisco was wounded in the left thigh at Pittsburgh’s Landing on the 6th. Oddly, he is not listed in the enlistment role, but, I discovered another Francisco (Charles H.) who was killed in the battle, and a John D. Francisco Company G, also from Spring Lake Wisconsin…. our great greats served together.
