Wilson McAllister (d. 1862)

According to the official Roster of Wisconsin Volunteers, Wilson McAllister, from Trimbelle, enlisted April 29, 1861, and died October 22, 1862, in Carrolton, Louisiana, from disease.  He served in Company G—the Hudson City Guards—of the 4th Wisconsin Infantry.

Jerry Flint mentioned McAllister’s death in a letter to his brother, written November 13, 1862:

We have lost two men from our company within the last three weeks. Wilson McAllister and Peter Dwyer, both the best of soldiers. McAllister was sick only a few days. His disease was softening of the brain.

The November 26, 1862, issue of The Prescott Journal gave this mention of his death:

— WILSON McALLISTER, of Trimbelle, member of the Hudson City Guards, died at the camp of the 4th Reg. on the 20th of October.
