A small death announcement appeared in the June 6, 1901, issue of The Pierce County Herald:
James Tozer, an old resident of River Falls and well known to all in the vicinity, died at the Soldiers’ Home in Waupaca last Thursday [May 30]. The funeral was held from the M. E. church Sunday under the auspices of the Masonic lodge, Mr. Snodgrass and Rev. Evans conducting the services.
